SunsetMail Terms of Service
Effective date: October 11, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of SunsetMail, a Chrome extension operated by LinetWorks ("we", "us"). By installing or using SunsetMail, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use SunsetMail.
1. What SunsetMail does
SunsetMail helps you create Gmail filters from the email you are viewing, name and manage your filters, and give matching emails a lifespan. When an email's lifespan has passed, SunsetMail moves it to Gmail's Trash. Rules with a zero-day lifespan send new matching emails to Trash as soon as they arrive.
SunsetMail runs in your browser and works with your Gmail account through Google's Gmail API. How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy.
2. Your Google account
To use SunsetMail, you sign in with your Google account and allow SunsetMail to access Gmail as described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for your Google account and for complying with Google's terms that apply to it. You can revoke SunsetMail's access at any time in your Google account settings.
3. Your rules and your emails
You decide which rules to create and which lifespans to give them. Please keep in mind:
- Emails that match a rule are moved to Trash when their lifespan has passed. Gmail permanently deletes emails that have been in Trash for 30 days. SunsetMail itself never permanently deletes emails.
- A rule may match more emails than you expect. Check the preview SunsetMail shows before you create a rule, and review your rules from time to time.
- Starred emails are always excluded from cleanup. Star an email to keep it.
- Cleanup runs only while Chrome is running, so emails may be moved to Trash later than their lifespan.
- Filters and labels that SunsetMail creates are part of your Gmail account and remain there if you stop using SunsetMail.
You are responsible for the rules you create and for keeping copies of emails you need.
4. SunsetMail Pro
Some features may be offered as a paid plan ("SunsetMail Pro"). Prices, billing periods, and included features are shown before you buy.
- SunsetMail Pro is sold by Polar Software, Inc. (polar.sh), which acts as the merchant of record and authorized reseller: you buy SunsetMail Pro from Polar, and Polar handles payments, billing, and applicable taxes. Polar's buyer terms apply to your purchase. Your right to use SunsetMail Pro is licensed to you by LinetWorks under these Terms.
- After purchase, you receive a license key. The license is for your personal use or for use within your organization, and you may not share, resell, or publish the key.
- If you have a subscription, it renews automatically until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time through the link in your purchase email or Polar's customer portal; you keep Pro features until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Refunds: you can get a full refund for any reason within 14 days of a payment, including a subscription renewal. Contact us at support@linetworks.net. When a payment is refunded, its license key stops working.
- We may change prices for future billing periods. We will tell you in advance if a change affects your subscription.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use SunsetMail in a way that violates laws or the rights of others;
- use SunsetMail to access email accounts you are not authorized to use;
- reverse engineer SunsetMail in order to bypass license checks, or distribute modified versions that do so;
- interfere with Google's, Polar's, or our services.
6. Intellectual property
SunsetMail, including its software, name, and logo, belongs to LinetWorks. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use SunsetMail in accordance with these Terms.
Gmail and Google are trademarks of Google LLC. SunsetMail is not made, endorsed, or sponsored by Google.
7. Changes and availability
We may update, change, or discontinue SunsetMail or any of its features. SunsetMail depends on Google's Gmail API and on Chrome; changes made by Google may cause features to stop working, temporarily or permanently. If we discontinue SunsetMail Pro, we will give reasonable notice.
8. Disclaimer
SunsetMail is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee that SunsetMail will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that it will meet your needs, and we disclaim all implied warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or emails, arising from your use of SunsetMail. Our total liability for any claim related to SunsetMail is limited to the amount you paid us for SunsetMail in the 12 months before the claim.
These limits do not apply to damages caused by our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or where the law does not allow them to be limited. If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms affects your rights under the consumer protection laws of your country.
10. Termination
You can stop using SunsetMail at any time by removing it from Chrome and revoking its access to your Google account. We may suspend or end your license if you seriously violate these Terms.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will update the effective date above, and we will notify you in the extension or on our website before significant changes take effect. If you continue to use SunsetMail after the changes take effect, you agree to the updated Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute arising from these Terms or SunsetMail shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the court having jurisdiction over the location of LinetWorks as the court of first instance, except where the law of your country gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.
